Exemptions &
Credits The following links give an
overview of the exemptions available in the Town of Bristol and a summary of the
requirements for each. All residents applying for these exemptions must complete the application and submit the necessary documentation before a decision can be made. Form PA-29 (application) must be filed by April 15th preceding the setting of the tax rate. If you are applying for an exemption for your 2007 taxes, the application must be received by April 15, 2007. The assessing officials shall send written notice to the taxpayer of their decision by July 1st prior to the date of notice of tax (second half bill). Failure of the assessing officials to respond shall constitute a denial of the application.
For all exemptions and veteran’s credits, the property must be your primary residence, not a secondary, seasonal, commercial property or undeveloped land. Residency requirements vary between one and five years dependent on the type of exemption or credit. Exemptions and Credits are available
to residents of Bristol. Any resident who may be eligible for an exemption for
the first time must file a permanent application
with the Assessing Department not later than April 15th in order to
receive the exemption or credit for the current tax year. Taxpayers must inform the Assessing Department of any change of status.
Please see the links below for specific requirements of each exemption or credit.
