July 2009

To Our Water Customers:

This is a Consumer Confidence Report, that New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) requires us to send in July of every year. On the back side of this letter we have enclosed some water conservation ideas for the home. Also enclosed is a report of Bristol’s water quality.

NHDES has prepared a Source Assessment Report for the sources serving this public water system.  The results of the assessments are as follows.  For Fowler River well, 2 susceptibility factors were rated high, 0 rated medium, and 10 were rated low.  For Danforth Brook (Storm Center) 1 susceptibility factor was rated high, 1 rated medium and 10 rated low.  The complete Assessment Report is available for inspection at the Public Works Department Office.  For more information, call Jeff Chartier or Juanita Gilman or visit the Town of Bristol website at www.townofbristolnh.org or NHDES Drinking Water Source Assessment Program website at http://des.nh.gov/organization/divisions/water/dwgb/dwspp/reports/documents/bristol.pdf

Just to recap on previous reports, our system serves over 1330 service connections. In the year 2008 the department pumped through its distribution system 120,492,000 gallons of water this was consumed by customers, fire protection and water main breaks.    There is a million gallon storage tank on North Main Street; this enables us to provide fire protection through 158 fire hydrants as well as serve the distribution system.

We hope this report is beneficial to you, in understanding our Water System.
