The committee met at the Fire Station at 9:00 a.m.  Steve Yannuzzi, Fire Chief, escorted us on our tour.  He began by showing us the bay equipment, beginning with the ambulances, then the new ladder truck, the first fire truck responder, and the tanker.  We were told of their uses within the fleet and of the problems that have surfaced (the chassis of the 2^nd ambulance and the rust on the tanker).  From there, were saw the men and equipment carrier truck which is being analyzed as to it’s use, the boat and trailer, and the dead compressor and how they are going around it right at the minute.  Chief Yannuzzi explained the smaller equipment needs (SCBA’s) as well and showed us their little shop with storage over it.  We then went into the meeting/training room where the Chief explained that, if we were to move the offices, sleeping quarters, etc. up above, the crowded bay area could move into this section easily.  Next came the kitchen, bathrooms, sleeping quarters, administrative assistant’s “office”, sitting room, and the Chief’s and the  Captains’ offices.  We were also shown the pavement that it cracking and will soon become a problem. 

Chief Yannuzzi, who is relatively new, appears to have a good handle on things and believes in presenting the needs of the department without padding.
