Committee Members Absent: Mark Chevalier The minutes of January 17, 2008 were reviewed. Gylene made a motion to accept the minutes as written, Peggy seconded the motion, the motion passed. New Business Chief Clark discussed a problem on Lakeside Road with the parking of boat trailers. There was a discussion on signage indicating that parking will only be permitted on one side of the road and will be limited to passenger vehicles only. The committee discussed the Workers Compensation claims previously filed. Mark briefed the committee on an injury an employee received when they were bringing in a load of waste oil. Discussion followed that the employee is still out on workers comp. The employee has had surgery and may be facing another surgery in the near future. The committee recommends that barrel carriers be used in the future. Mark indicated that they have tried using a pump to transfer the oil but it does not work. The JLMC discussed the plans for the 2008 budget. Elizabeth indicated that $5000.00 was put into the JLMC budget for 2008. Elizabeth briefed the committee on the current problems at Kelley Park. Discussion followed on the need for a security camera being secured to a pole because of the damage and vandalism that is occurring in the park. Mike spoke on different grants from places like Wal-Mart for surveillance purposes. A lengthy discussion followed. Discussion followed on the fire alarm at the Fire Department. The JLMC agreed that the fire alarm at that location was their first priority. Elizabeth wants the JLMC to consider the problem at Kelley Park if there are any funds’ remaining after the fire alarm is completed at the Fire Department.
Discussion followed on the inspection of all fire alarms, extinguishers, exit signs, etc. on a yearly basis. The Fire Department will be giving the Highway Department a fire alarm panel box. Norm spoke on NACA and indicated that most all members are IS100 certified and they are making a commitment to doing the IS200 for all departments. Peggy indicated that there is new information on the new workers comp. She indicated that the insurance carrier will not cover costs if a provider within their network is not used. Discussion followed. The JLMC also discussed the health insurance. The committee nominated Joe Sarto as the new Employee Chair for the JLMC for the next year. The vote was unanimous. The committee discussed future trainings for committee members. Saturday May 3, 2008 IS100 class is offered to anyone class runs 0830-1200 at the Bristol Fire Department. IS200 will be offered sometime in June or July hosted by NACA. The committee discussed the installation of the fire alarm system at the Highway Garage. The fire alarm has been completed and will be tied into the system at the Fire Department within the next couple of weeks. The Action Plan was discussed all items have been completed accept the attendance at the Supervisor School. There were no correspondences to review. The next scheduled JLMC meeting date was set for July 24, 2008 at 12:00 at the Danforth Brook Road Storm Center. Jeff made a motion to adjourn the meeting; Gylene seconded the motion, the motion passed. The meeting was adjourned at 13:10 PM. Respectfully Submitted,
