Joint Loss Management Committee Meeting

Thursday, February 24, 2005 – 12:00 p.m. to 1:25 p.m.

 

 

Attendance

Committee Members Present:               Mark Bucklin, Jeff Chartier, Michael Goss, Peggy Petraszewski , Milton Reed. Gylene Salmon, Norman Skantze, and Bob Veloski.

 

Committee Members Absent:                Barry Wingate.

 

Minutes

 

The minutes of October 14, 2004 were reviewed. Gylene made a motion to accept the minutes, Bob seconded the motion, the motion passed.

 

New Business

 

The JLMC reviewed the Analysis of Worker’s Comp Forms and/or Workers’ Compensation Injuries

Mark explained an injury that occurred within the Highway Department. There were no recommendations made. Gylene explained an injury to a Police Office during a routine call. There were no recommendations made.

 

The Emergency Contact list was discussed. Gylene requested any changes in the new list provided, please forward to her attention.

 

Discussion followed on the need to elect a new chairperson for the committee. Discussion followed on where to keep the records if Gylene were to leave. It was decided that if Gylene leaves that all the manuals would be kept in the Accounting Office. Gylene recommended that the Committee wait until the next meeting to elect a new chair. The JLMC decide to table the election of a new chair until the next meeting.

 

The Committee inquired if a new employee would be put onto the Committee to be an employee representative for the Fire Department, until such time as Maggi Winn returns from leave. Chief Skantze indicated that he would speak with Mark Chevelier.

 

Old Business

 

The JLMC discussed the memo that was sent to all Department Heads regarding on-site inspections.

 

The JLMC discussed the status of the Safety Responsibility Forms and Safety Orientation Forms. Discussion followed on how this paperwork needs to be done and who is responsible for the forms. Peggy will give the forms to new hires as part of their beginning employment form package. Department Heads will then make sure that all employees have reviewed the forms.

 

There were no correspondences to review.

 

Discussion followed on the safety equipment list that department heads need to create for the committee, the committee decided that not all equipment would be listed.

 

Discussion followed on when employees would be given the JLMC Document/Guidelines. Bob indicated that he would make the necessary copies and have them distributed to all employees to add to the Employee Handbook. Bob indicated that all employees can read the document online at the town web site. After reading the document the employee can email Bob and indicate that they have read the document, this would be in place of signing the forms. 

 

Other Business

 

Chief Skantze told the JLMC about the Fire Department’s capital improvement plan. Chief Skantze then went over the prior items of concerns the JLMC had with the Fire Department and what items have been fixed and when the others are scheduled for repairs. Chief Skantze told the Committee that all gas cans have been replaced with safety cans.

 

Discussion followed on the fire panel alarms in the Town Office Building. Gylene indicated that the panel has shown a problem for 2 years and it has not been addressed. Chief Skantze indicated that he would have Cathy Patiere re-write the letter to the Town Administrator indicating the problem.

 

The next scheduled JLMC meeting will be held on May 3, 2005 at 12:00 PM at the Sewer Plants Chemical Room.

 

Gylene made a motion to adjourn the meeting, Mark seconded the motion, the motion passed. The meeting was adjourned at 1:25 PM
