Minot-Sleeper Library Meeting – May 12, 2009
Attendance: Roger Nicholls, Nancy Gavalis, Glenn Dorr, Debbie Gilbert, Wendy Costigan, Sue Brundrette, Debbie Doe, Barbara Greenwood

Barbara Greenwood made a motion to accept the minutes. Seconded by Roger Nicholls. Moved and accepted,
Tea made $250 for the building fund.
- Maggie Steirs – Talking about the historic aspects of the library building and how it will help get Lchips funds. Can help stage buildings.
- Has ordered new mats, has scheduled waxing will cost about $2,000 will come out of $25,000 voted to the library in March.
- Rubber ducks, Andrew Hemingway is investigating where to buy the ducks. Debbie checked on liability. We fall under the town’s insurance. They feel that the coverage we have will be sufficient. Thinking about doing it during Old Home’s Day.
New Business - Glenn Dorr talked about the Annual Review that Roger Nicholls had put together to communicate to the public. Glenn talked about setting up goals that the trustees can work on during the year. Wendy talked about Debbie Gilbert doing a summer news letter.
Discussed setting up objectives, goals, and strategies.
Objectives:
1. Look into getting private donations – Glenn would like a list of people that could be called. Would like to put a certain amount of money, how people could give (like ______ a month.)
2. Fund raising
3. Where are we in this process?
4. Communication - Publications. Ads on TV. Articles in the newspaper.

2. How best to serve the community
Strategies:
1. Making a list of ways people could give to the library. How do they go about it? - Roger ( along with #2)
2. How do we get that information out to the public? Project brochure…Debbie, Wendy, Barbara – meet at the library. May 21, 2009 @3:30 at the library
3. How do we let people know how much we have? Pledges.
- Memorial Bricks - Get input on getting started - purchasing some as demonstrations, make a list for people to sign-up – Ask Beth Colby - Debbie Doe/Roger Nicholls
- Newsletter – DG is doing it. – Hand it out at summer meeting, historical society, old home’s day, e-mail, town office. Community center.
- Library Page, James Haskell, is leaving at the end of the summer. Trustees would like to give him a farewell present. Would like to replace him by hiring another 15-20 hour person. Move and accept 1st Sue Brundrette, 2nd Glenn Dorr. Debbie Doe will be there with Debbie Gilbert during interview. Discussion on what the get him. Roger Nicholls suggests a Russian/American dictionary.
