Bristol Recycling Committee Minutes

The committee reviewed and approved a press release announcing the winner of the high school poster contest as well as letters to the individual winners. 

The committee discussed doing an RFP for single stream and also discussed the proposal received some months ago for engineering and design for the site consolidation. 

David Hill suggested that taxpayers could be offered the option of paying for transfer station and beach stickers when they pay their taxes and asked to included a self addressed stamped envelope that the town could use to send the stickers back to the taxpayer.

Commercial access of the transfer station was discussed and it was concluded that this was a policy matter and that any further discussion should be tabled until the current solid waste ordinance is reviewed.  Mark and Paul were to look at the ordinance. 

Mark will begin brining in actual recycling numbers on a monthly basis so the committee can track changes in the rate. 

The committee discussed the need to include aluminum cans once single stream is started and suggested that the fraternal organization that collects cans at the transfer station should be given notice that they will need to find another collection location. 

The next meeting will be August 25, 2008.
