Water and Sewer System Tour

Meet at the Town Office
Building, 230 Lake Street by 8:00 AM to carpool.
- First stop, Fowler Well
Site to see were the town obtains their water and how the water is treated
before distribution.
- We will then travel to
North Main Street to the Hopkins Water Storage Tank site to see the million
gallon precast concrete tank.
- We will continue south on
North Main Street to the Hillside Vault to explain how the pressure valves
work within the vault and discuss future plans of this old tank site.
- We will then head down to
Bristol Hill Road to the pneumatic lift station behind the NAPA building.
- Next stop will be at the
pump station located on pleasant street just over the bridge on the left
next to Andy and Sons.
- The last sewage pump
station that we will stop at is on Central Street; this pump station is
located at the intersection of Merrimack Street onto Central Street.
- The tour will continue to
Danforth Brook Road to visit the original well site from 1947 still in use
today.
- We will conclude and our
tour at the Wastewater Treatment Facility located at 180 Ayres Island Road.
At the facility we will explain the process we use to treat the Town’s
wastewater.
The tour usually takes 4 hours to complete; therefore we
should end by noon.
