Fire Suppression

4 Engine 2

Fire Suppression is where it all began for the Fire Department in 1862, when Bristol Residents approved the establishment of fire precinct following a major conflagration that destroyed the west side of Central Street the previous year.

Today the Fire Suppression Division responds to emergencies ranging from fire alarm activations to building fires and problems with appliances to carbon monoxide emergencies. The department maintains a fleet of fire apparatus that includes an Engine, a Ladder truck, and a Tanker/Engine for fire suppression.
