Town Administrator

The Town of Bristol, New Hampshire, is seeking a Town Administrator to lead the community into its next phase. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in rural, local government and has a solid background in employee management, finances and relationship building. Shared Administrative Assistant

Bristol is a beautiful New England town that is located just twenty-five miles northwest of Concord, New Hampshire’s capital. We have a year-round population of approximately 3,300 and a seasonal summer population of approximately 6,500 inhabitants. Bristol is busy with many ongoing and new projects, and we are looking for a teammate that will hit the ground running on Day 1. We strive to create a business-friendly environment to help our town’s tax base grow while balancing the need to preserve our beautiful surroundings, and you will be on the front line of helping us get there.

The right candidate will be responsible for screening visitors and telephone calls and scheduling appointments for four (4) Departments – Assessing, Land Use, Health, and Highway/Transfer Station, with an emphasis on assisting the public with inquiries. A candidate for this position should have considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office; ability to speak clearly and effectively in public settings; ability to maintain a high degree of organization and attention to detail; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the Departments, Town employees, Vendors and Consultants. Most importantly, having good communication skills, a good attitude, lots of patience, the ability to keep an even keel, and a sense of humor are the keys to success in our community.

This is a full-time, 40+ hours per week position, ranging from $17.00 - $19.00/hr. Land Use Associate

The right candidate will be responsible for the monthly meeting minutes for five (5) very busy Boards / Commissions – Planning Board, Zoning Board of Adjustment, Conservation Commission, Historic District Commission, and Capital Improvements Program Committee. The candidate will also be responsible for the maintaining the filing system of the Department. A candidate for this position should have considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office; ability to speak clearly and effectively in public settings; and ability to maintain a high degree of attention to detail. Most importantly, having good communication skills, a good attitude, lots of patience, the ability to keep an even keel, and a sense of humor are the keys to success in our community.

This is a part-time, 20 hour per week position, ranging $13.00 - $15.00/hr. Youth Services Librarian/Assistant Director

The Minot-Sleeper Library has an immediate opening for a personable, innovative librarian to oversee and implement programs and collections related to both the Children and Youth areas of the library. This position will also assist the Director with various administrative duties and act in that role in their absence.

The Minot-Sleeper Library serves Bristol, New Hampshire’s population of approximately 3,100 year-round residents and up to 10,000 people in the summer with visitors to Newfound Lake.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s in Library Science from an ALA-accredited school preferred OR the equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrate possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge of or ability to learn NH State Library automated catalog system and KOHA integrated library system preferred. A full job description is available here.

Land Use Officer / Deputy Health Officer

A candidate for this position should have the ability to speak clearly and effectively in public settings; ability to maintain a high degree of organization and attention to detail; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the Departments, Town employees, and Consultants. Most importantly, having good communication skills, a good attitude, lots of patience, the ability to keep an even keel, and a sense of humor are the keys to success in our community.

This is a part-time, 29+ hours per week position, ranging from $21.75 - $23.07/hr.
