Select Board Approve Promotion and Welcome New Officer

The Select Board took a moment during the June 1, 2023 Select Board meeting to Approve the Promotion of Officer Chris Carter and Welcome New Officer Seth Learned. 

Chris Carter promoted to Detective Sergeant - Detective Sergeant Carter came to the Bristol Police Department in 2018. He started his law enforcement career in 2004 with the State Police. He holds many training qualifications including firearms instructor, taser instructor, and Drug Recognition Officer and instructor. Since joining the Bristol Police Department, Detective Sergeant Carter took on a Detective/Prosecutor role and has led many investigations. He is a high school athlete who has also participated in numerous community sports events in town. Most recently he was on the Police vs. Students basketball and kickball team. Prior to law enforcement, Detective Sergeant Carter served in the Marine Corp from 1996 to 2003 in Okinawa Japan, Quantico Virginia, Washington DC and Pendleton California. His duties included presidential support, presidential security and presidential contingency planning from 1998 to 2001.

Officer Seth Learned welcomed to the Bristol Police Department - Officer Learned started law enforcement in Holderness, in 2006, moving to Woodstock in 2016. With 17 years experience, Seth comes to the Town of Bristol with lots of Police knowledge, including a taser instructor and head of evidence in Woodstock. At Holderness and Woodstock, Seth was a major public relations officer, spending time skateboarding or playing sports with the youth in the community. Seth is also a professional snowboarder and has been coaching the Holderness Prep School snowboard team. Since starting in Bristol, Seth has already stepped up in the community, participating at the senior lunches, Special Olympic torch run and participating in the Police vs. Students basketball and kickball game at the High School. 

We are pleased to congratulate Chris Carter and welcome Seth Learned. We are very thankful to have them both members of the Bristol Police Department.
