Winter Parking Ban

A reminder from the Highway Department about parking during snow, sleet, or ice events.

It’s hard to imagine, but the winter is almost here.  This is a reminder from the Highway Department of a couple items so that you can be prepared.  We kindly ask that make yourself familiar with this policy and share it with your tenants, customers, and others.

During a storm, our objective is to keep the roads accessible for police, fire, and ambulance services.  After the storm, we strive to make the roads safe for the general public.  Removing snow and ice from Bristol’s roads is a challenging task.  It involves coordination of private and Town-owned plows, and personnel.  The hours can be very long, with operations conducted during the most severe weather and driving conditions.  We realize that an operation of such size and complexity is bound to generate complaints and requests for additional service.

Since it may take several hours for plows to make their way to your streets, please be patient and hold off on early calls for service during a storm.  If you believe a request for service is warranted and sufficient time has passed for us to have responded, please call the Highway Department at 603-744-2441.

Winter Parking Ban

Motorists are reminded that the winter parking ban will be beginning soon.  No parking is allowed on any public street, or any Town right of way between the hours of 12:00AM to 6:00AM from November 15 to April 15.

The following designated parking locations may be utilized during Winter Events, defined as snow, sleet or ice:

  • Vehicles may park in the lower parking lot of the Minot-Sleeper Library (45 Pleasant Street – lower-level parking lot only)
  • The municipal parking lot in front of TD Bank (10 North Main Street – parking lot only)
  • On Central Street near the Hydro property (just past 20 Central Street on the right-hand side)
  • Vehicles must be removed by 8:00AM of the following morning

Towing Tips

Violators will be ticketed (and/or) towed at the owner’s expense.  During a parking ban, please call the Bristol Police Department at 603744-6320 for the location of the towed vehicle.  All towing fees must be paid to the respective tow company prior to the release of stored vehicles.
